A lot happened these last few days, the builders are ready to put the floor in and last friday someone already put in the floor of the bathroom in. Monday they will start to put tiles on the floor of the bathroom. This weekend Nils and Wende stayed at Maartje and Guusje's house (thanks Maaike) and Jaap came to us on saterday to help with getting the electric wiring ready. Jaap and dad made a lot of progress drilling the pipes with the electric wires in place. The extension of the house needed a lot of new electrics specially for the new appliances like the cooker (induction), a microwave/oven combi and a steam oven. Furthermore we needed additional electrics for the colse in boiler and dish washer... A lot of things! But we made it in time and today on sunday dad finalized the tubing by directing them through the wall into the celler were it will be connected later. Nils and Wende in the mean time had a lot of fun sleeping over at Maaike and Jaap. The first night, Nils slept in Guusje's bedroom and Wende at Maartje's. The next day they changed places but Nils and Maartje had a party and little sleep... Unfortunately for maaike and jaap, Nils and wende woke up very early (6.30)

A busy weekend (as usual)
Saturday dad had to remove the bath tub and in the mean time mom did some shopping and took Nils and Wende to the camp site where we have our meals since this is not possible anymore in our own house. Unfortunately, the caravan we can stay in had a gas leak and this is still to be repaired. So now the tub is gone we have a serious problem to wash ourselves.. Well, actually we've got three neighbours where we can shower or have a bath if we need to so don't worry about us. Anyway, we had marvelous weather and in the evening Nils and Wende played in the camp site's playground. On sunday we went to see grandpa Struyk in De lier because he celebrated his birthday. Great grandpa was there and Martin, Judith and the kids Thymen Davina and Thijs. The kids played together and showed the last video's we took that morning.

Grand opening at Nil's school
Last thursday a new build part of Nils's school was officially opened. All the children appeared that day wearing builders clothes and the whole day was about building stuff. At 4 in the afternoon a piece of art work was revealed by the head teacher and it represents the way of growth of children in life. When we got home, we found the scaffolding gone... The first step to the end of the great rebuild! More pictures to come.

East versus West
The builders broke down the wall that seperated the old from the new.. It looks so huge now the space, even with all the rubbish and building material in it! I (dad) just removed the old stove and oven and even the fridge, luckily we had another one in the garage and I've put that one in the living room now.... It's a mess but an organised mess

Electric boogie
Well, the electrics are now in place on the first floor, bathroom and bedroom. Tuesday they are going to start to put plaster on the walls and today we cleaned out the back room and what was left of the kitchen. Tomorow the builders are planning to break throught he wall seperating he old from the new... That means more dust and rubble but hopefully no more cold weahter but you never know in march. At least the windows do their job keeping the place wind and cold away. It looks like we're going to have to make use of the caravan offer Nils and Wende's "nanny" offered us. We received an offer from our next door neighbours as well to wash and cook in their house while they are on a holiday to Africa in a couple of weeks. The roof is now completely finished and street in front of our house is still a big sandpit. Nils and Wende have a lot of fun riding their bikes through the sand and playing with the neighbours kids. The council reacted at least to our complaint by laying down wooden plates so we don't have to plough through the sand and mud to get to our house.

more rooftiles and roof windows and swimming
More roof tiles are now in place. The electrics are getting there as well, Dad is doing this himself and he is preparing the tubing to install LED lighting later on when the ceilings are in place. Sunday we went to the swimming pool and had a lot of wet fun. After a sleep we found out that Wende was not feeling well, we took her with us to Niall's birthday at Monique's but Wende was very quiet and did not want to eat anything. Drinking was not a problem luckily but something was wrong. After a meal we took Nils and Wende home to bed and Wende had quite a fever. Let's hope she is feeling better tomorrow..

Roof tiles!!
We're so close to having a leak free roof... The majority of the tiles are now in place and next week we expect to be getting glass in the windows and doors. Nils was not feeling to well when dad picked Nils and Wende up at the childcare. At home he was still very quiet so we put him (and Wende) in bed early.

Roof plating finally there!
Today we saw the long awaited roof isolation plates arriving on the webcam. These should have been here some time ago but now they finally arrived and just in time... The council has started to renew our street and ... yes, ofcourse, the starting point is in front of our house... We are to expect 3 weeks of "inconvenience". Tomorrow dad is staying at home to do some more work on the electrics.. Nils likes his new room very much now the angled ceiling is straight. Dad even took him up to the attick to show him the new space and he liked the idea that this could be his room in the future.

Davina's birthday
today we went to Vlaardingen to visit Lisette's brother Martin, Judith, Davina, Thijmen and Mathijs. It was Davina's birthday. Well actually not exactly, because she was born on the 29th of Februari so she was born on what we call a "schrikkeljaar". All of the grandparents were there and Nils and Thijmen almost immendiately went upstairs to play with the wooden traintracks. Mathijs changed laps every 10 minutes and had great fun fun with a big balloon.
