Tante Jaanje and a reunion

Friday afternoon we picked up "tante Jaan"our former neighbour who we know from when we bought our house. She gave us a nice present and we had a nice chat until we had to bring her home gain. She looked around the house and we showed her what our newneighbours had done with her old garden. Saturday we picked up the ducati after it was repaired and we drove to Honselersdijk where dad and the kids stayed with Peter while mom and Melanie went to a reunion of the Westland college. Dad also spent some time there but never fifnished that school so he was not invited.... Instead, dad and Peter went to the centre of Honselersdijk to have a look at the old cars that assembled there for the street festivities. Mom and Mellanie came back around dinner time and we ordered (by internet) pizza's. After dinner we went back home again where we spent the evening at Sandra's birthday party. Nils was allowed up late because a girl from his class was also at this party. (And her mother told me that her daughter like Nils very much...) Sunday we had a nice breakfast with boiled eggs and croissoints. Because it was raining, we spent some time watching television (24 hours of Le Man). After that we decided it was a good idea to put the kids in the bathtub and went to Maaike and Jaap after that. We can borrow their roof case for on top of the car so we can take some more stuff with on our holiday soon. Maaike was till in Hulst but Jaap was there. We did not stay very long because we expected visitors later in the evening, Arthur's mom and her friend Arend came to visit us! They had a look at our house and Ingmar ofcourse. We had a nice chat and it was good to see them again. All in all a busy weekend but hey it makes you feel alive..

colleagues and a bottle

Lisette's colleagues came over to have a look at our new born. They gave us a nice present for Ingmar, thanks! Tuesday we went to Nils's school to have a 10 minute chat with Nils's teachers. They showed us a drawing Nils made because of the theme they had this month, farming. A horse on a bycicle...... Nils is already developing asense of humor. The teachers also told us that Nils is making good progress and has a lot of friends at school. Sometimes however, Nils can get angry and needs some time on his own to deal with that. Something they found strange but we explained that Nils does that at home as well and it is because we have a rule that they have to spend time in the hallway when they do or behave badly. Dad gave Ingmar his first bottle with mothermilk because it is vital for the daycare when Lisette is going back to work again. Luckily Ingmar not even hesitated, he started drinking from the bottle immediately.

What summer?

As a friend wrote in his weblog about the nice sunshine and swimming pool temperature, we on the other hand are looking for our rain coats.. Ah well, Friday and yesterday were not too bad, dry at least. Friday afternoon we had neighbours visiting us because of Ingmar and Saturday we first went to the hair dressers for Nils and Wende, Nils was "cut short" as a precaution for the coming holiay in France and they gave Wende such nice braids. She loved it.. After that we went to see grandpa and grandma in Hulst. There we had a couple of sandwiches and wende went to hav some sleep after that. In the afternoon Lisette went with Nils to the city centre and dad went with granddad and Wende to have granddad's car cleaned. Wende and dad stayed in the car during the washing tour and Wende was a bit afraid at first but soon calmed down sitting in the front with dad. After the washing up we went to the supermarket to do some shopping and I was pleased to see granddad his eyes had improved with the drops he was give from the doctor. He could read the lables on the packages again. On sunday we had a avisit from Lisette nephew Corstionaan and his wife and daughter and in the afternoon we had a visit from Lisette's mom and dad and Lisette's grandma and granddad! We felt very priviliged to have them in our house because they do not often get out much because of their age and health. We had a pleasent afternoon and the kids played more or less without incidents..

We also made popcorn, which Nils and Wende never saw before and they loved it (they almost ate the whole bowl!)

Pinksteren

Friday afternoon granddad and grandma came over from De Lier again to stay the weekend in their caravan on the camp site nearby. We tried to pursuede them to have pizza's with us but without luck, they had their fresh food for the evening.. Dad painted another wall in the new downstairs room so that is another small step towards a finished house.... Dad went to the local supermarket to get a couple of pizza's and Nils ans Wende joined him. In the shop they shouted the whole time "pizza!" and dad loved it.. Saturday morning dad went to the ducati dealer to have dad's supersport repaired, shiting gear down seems to be a problem from 4 to 3 and 3 to 2.. And the supersport needs a new rear tire.. Granddad followed him in the volvo cabriolet with wende in the back seat. On the way there some loonatick on another bike almost pushed dad of the road but in the end, this.... ended up at the same ducati dealer so we had a little chat.. After we ditched the ducati we went to the great Andelse day. Once a year there is some sort of festive day in our village where you have stalls with toys and all srts of things you don't need but end up bying anyway. Not this time, this year dad only bought a loempia, typical dish not in Andel but Asia. Mom however, bought a case of cherry's and some toys for Nils and Wende. Nils loved the cherry's so mom had some serious competition. Granddad bought some more toys for Nils and Wende and we saw a model car race near the old church tower. The afternoon was spent in our garden with friends of Wende and Nils. Sunday was spent in the playgroud at Neder Hemert zuid. In the evening we had a bbq with granddad and grandma. On monday, second pinkesterday Whitsun day, we went to the swimming pool in Genderen first and after that to the camp site where Martin and Judith and the kids joined grandpa and grandma on the beach. We did not stay for dinner this time because we had so much fresh food in the fridge which would be a waste if we had to through it away. All in all a very nice weekend with lots of sunshine. Let's hope we have more of where that came from.
