Pirates, clowns granddad an grandma, pancakes and croissoints, what a weekend.
Thursday was queens day but this year some nut case drove his car into the crowds killing innocent people just because he lost his job and didn't like the royal family.. Nils and Wende didn't see it and we didn't tell them this. Because of this drama, several festivities were cancelled ofcourse so we didn't see all of the Andelse events. We did visit the "aubade" performed by the Andels fanafare corps. Not only the dutch anthem was played but also the brabants anthem, brabant is the province we live in. For dinner we had pancakes baked in our own kitchen. Friday afternoon, grandma and granddad from De Lier came to see us. They placed their caravan at the campsite where we stayed during the time we didn't have a kitchen. They joined us for dinner and we made a lovely lasagna in our new oven, just perfect. Dad painted some windows and doors and installed a large mirror in the bathroom and Cor the neighbour helped me lifting the heavy bast*ard. Nils and Wende played outside the whole day accompanied by the regular neighbourhood girlfriends. The trampoline is favorite. We also went to see the grandparents at the campsite and were treated ice cream! Nils picked the biggest chocolate one ofcourse and Wende didn't finish her ice cream. Sunday we went to the Verkade fabriek an old chocolate fctory where nowadays movies are shown. Nils went with mom to "Kikkerdril" a movie about a boy who needs an operations and tells his little brother (because he wanted to have frog eggs) that he wouldn't get better unless his little brother gets him frogs eggs. Dad went with Wende to a movie about a bear who finds the moon knocked unconsious in the woods. The moon was knocked off the skies by a unidentified airplane made of a bathtub and more wood. The bear takes care of the moon and after a couple of adventure they find someone who has an airplane as well and helps getting the moon back in the sky. Along the way the mystery of the unidentified airplane was also soved.. Wende stayed awake throughout the movie but dad was struggeling..

Steamy diner

Saturday we tested the steam oven by cooking the broccoli in it and it was almost perfect, maybe a few minutes less.. All in all cooking the broccoli took just under an hour because we had to figure out how the friggin oven worked.. We also put some lights over the table (ikea 9,95) and enjoyed our meal at our table in our new kitchen, we love it! Today, sunday we went to ikea (again..) but this time in Delft to buy some more floorboards, dad needed just one more.. We bought more cabinets for our bedroom and for Wende's room and after Ikea we went to an adress in The hague to buy a bed for Nils. A socalled "hoogslaper". That is a bed about 1,75 meters high up with a place under it to play. It is second hand but as new, at home dad had it assembled in no time and Nils was so happy with his new bed although he was a bit scared climbing up the stairs. Just to be sure we put another matress next to the bed in case he falls down.. The reason why the previous owner sold this bed was because his had a tendency to sleepwalk..

Nils's "new" room and dinner at home!

Nils helped me painting his room a new layer of blue paint. He only did a few streaks but he soon had spots of blue all over his clothes.. Mom was not amused.. Today granddad came with a mechanic from Horticoop to install the new kitchen (day 1 of 2). Granddad sold us that kitchen and not so long ago he also installed them personally. After they went home we managed to get the induction cooker working and we had dinner in our own garden. Best of all, dad managed to get the dish washer working.. although he wasn't sure it worked because we didn't hear anything.. What a day!

Crane gone, kitchen delivered, the end is near

Today, the builders took the crane out of the front garden (finally) and the new kitchen was delivered. The builders were so friendly to carry all the new stuff all the way to the back of the house and put it in the new part of the house. Covering the entire space.. We hope we had the last diner in the caravan on the camp site because tomorow they are going to start assembling the new kitchen. Nils and Wende played in the playground for the last time and Mom watched them play enjoying the evening sun. Dad enjoyed the last dish washing (he hopes)

False alarm

Last night Lisette felt something "wrong" and she called the doctor who came around to check on things but we were lucky to have more time to finish the house. A lot of things happened the last weeks and I was not able to wright anything because I was so busy with things.. The neighbour Cor came to help me out with preparing the ceiling in the "old" part of the house so that the builders can make one new ceiling. We also went to Hulst again to visit grandma and granddad who celebrated his birthday. Maaike and Jaap and the kids were there too and Nilsand Wende had a great time playing with Maartje and Guusje. Grandma was still not well and the noise did not do any good so dad took the kids to the windmill in Hulst and we were lucky, the windmill was open for visitors and we all climbed the small stairs to the top. The miller explained to us how the windmill worked in the old days and the kids listened and were alowed to wind a small device that explained what the windmill did when it worked. In the mean time Jaap worked hard cleaning the drive way and the pavement and I went with my dad to the shops to buy a new drive way light. The week after, Nils and Wende slept over at Maartje and Gussje (again) and Mom and dad went to Ikea to buy flooring planks. The next day Jaap came over to help us (again) with painting our new bedroom and laying out the flooring planks. The bedroom is now almost finished and we are able to use our own bathroom. The neighbours Maja and Joost al also back from their holiday in Africa. (They allowed us to use their house for 2 weeks... that was grand! And we needed that...) From now on we still have to use the caravan to cook our meals but we can take a shower in our own home! A lot of news and I still haven't written down everything.. When will our newborn to be come, what will be finished...??? It's a stressfull time.
