Kikerdril ... the second time

Last thursday we (Nils Wende and dad) went to the local cinema (in an old farmhouse) to see the movie "kikkerdril". It is a story of two brothers, the oldest has to go to the hospital to undergo minor surgery. In short, the oldest says to his younger brother that he needs kikkerdril (frogs eggs) otherwise he won't be able to speak ever again.. So the younger brother goes on a adventure to find this kikkerdril and on the way he meets up with a girl. There are funny songs in the movie and one of them is a cough song in the bus.. very funny

BBQ at the campsite

Granddad and grandma invited us to have a BBQ with them at the campsite. Although the weather was not too great, the temperature was not bad to sit outside. Nils and Wende had a lot of candy (a lot because normally they only have one piece of candy a day) and that made them very hyperactive. So hyperactive that there was no reasoning with them, not listening to what we say.. and very naughty. I've seen this before, also when they had eaten a lot of candy.. So I guess it is true what they say about sugar and children.. No more than one piece of candy a day! Anyhow, the BBQ went okay apart from the many times we had to correct Nils and Wende..

Maartje and Maaike's birthday

This saturday we celebrated Maartje's and Maaike's birthday in Woerden. For Maartje we bought a jumping rope with melodies, the faster you jumped, the faster the melody. For Maaike we had bought a book and we also bougth something for Guusje and for jaap for his help with our house. Luckily it was dry and not too cold so the kids played outside chasing each other and dad set out a track with chalk around the block. Unfortunately the chalk did not last very long so the track was only one block. Nils and Wende found it so exciting but the older kids found it quite boring.. So they continued with playing football and other older games..

Chicken tonight?

Dad noticed something moving in the shed but realized that the rest of the family were inside.. Who or what was in the shed???? Closer investigation revealed that we had an unexpected guest, feathers macgraw. A chicken??? What the .....?? And we just hád dinner... Ah well, we released the futigitive near some bush from where we suspected this feathered friend came from.

The vikings arrived!!

This weekend, Maaike arrived with my dad and mom from Hulst and also tanta Henny. Later on, Jaap and the girls arrived from Woerden and we had a great time with the family. Everybody stayed for dinner (soup with bread to be sure they all would be able to get home in time for the kids) They all took a tour through the new part of the house and the children played in the garden. Even two kids from surrounding neighbours joined for dinner. Although one of them was already dressed for bedtime and was supposed to return a toy.. Her mom eventually showed up to rertieve the lost one and was suprised to see her child having dinner again.. Dad had made a sail on the canoe and drawn special pirate paintings on it, great fun!!

More Ingmar

Ingmar came to the world not breathing and totally limp but the doctor got him breathing again but it scared us all very much. Nothing indicated a problem, the heartbeat was normal, the birth itself was a bit quick, maybe too quick for him to get ready for breathing on his own.. We will never know anyway. Now all is okay although he sleeps a lot! Not bad ofcourse but we have to wake him up every 3 hours to feed him and sometimes he doesn't want to wake up at all. Abyway, here are some more pictures..
