First hockey game of the season and visiting grandpa

The first game of the season was won with a score of 20 to 16. Nils saved one by sliding flat on his belly slightly injuring himself but continued anyway. The rest of the team played brilliant as well and victory was ours. See this link for the video's In the afternoon we went to see grandpa in Hulst because the coming weekends are stuffed wit appointments and we hadn't seen him already for a long time. We strolled throught the park to do some shopping and Ingmar insisted on carrying the trolly for grandpa. We bought pataks and made a great dinner that night. We didn't saty over because the coming week will be very busy so it was important for the kids (and mom and dad) to get as much sleep as possible. The following sunday dad took Nils, Wende and Wendy to the swimming pool were they met with lots of friends from school. The afternoon was spent mostly in the garden playing in the polehouse drinking lemonade and eating biscuits while it rained outside.

Skating, swimming, railroads and skating

That somehow sums up our weekend.. We went to De Lier on saturday to visit Lisette's parents and to enjoy the ice skating on the stretch of ice Lisette used to skate on when she was much younger. Nils thought it was a huge ice track they made and we had to convince him that in fact it was a frozen canal we were skating on.. The ice was not too good when we went further into town so we finally went back to the stretch Lisette's parents were still waiting for us. Lisette's dad had picked up a chair from home for Wende to hang on to. Ingmar still has a lot of problems standing upright on his small skates and he spent the major part of the afternoon sitting on the sled. Back home we enjoyed a cheese fondue with a glass of wine (and water for the kids ofcourse) Sunday morning Nils rather stayed at home playing with dad's old miniature train while Wende wanted to go swimming. There were some other kids Wende knew from school and Wende and dad had a really great dad-daughter swimming morning, really quality time as they say.. In the afternoon while Nils continued playing with the train set, dad took Wende ice skating at our local skating range for a last time because thaw is nearing fast.. There were other friends of Wende and people dad knew from Wende's friends. A busy but satisfying weekend..
