Having fun with jazz

We also went to see tante Jet at the hospital in Utrecht and she was awake most of the time this time. We held her hand and she looked at Nils and Wende with great interest. She asked iff Nils and Wende were brother and sister and she stroke nils's hair. Her face lit up as she looked at Nils and Wende. The kids found it scary ofcourse at first but after a few minutes they were used to this old lady and we explained them that tante Jet was very special because she was already 90 years old. When we left, tante Jet waved at us and Nils and Wende cheerfully said goodbye to her. Outside the hospital it stil rained...

Swiming o sunday morning

Dad bougth a new (second hand) tenor sax. He wants to take up lessons again after many years and this time not on a alt sax but a tenor sax. So he bought a selmer super action 80 II at a shop in Den Bosch and registered for lessons. Nils and Wende love music also and particularly jazz music. Probably because there is so much of it in our house.

Sunday was a rainy day and we went to the swimmingpool de kikvors in Giessen (NB).

Furthermore, dad has been trying to convert 8mm film to dvd with sound but it still proves difficult. This small movie dates back to 1980 or so when Joost, a friend of dad and him went on a short filght over Rotterdam in a Dakota during a air how at Rotterdam airport.

Niall playing soccer

Our neighbour's son Niall joined the local soccer team and we went to see him play. He lost the first two matches but won the one we were watching.

Wende and her tricks

Wende was being cheeky during breakfast and put her legs up the chair in front of her..

A guest

We had a guest for dinner, that is, the cats did.

As Nils's school like to have a picture of Nils on the wall in this class room, we choose these.

Music in the family

As Lisette made it through the audition last weekend for a musical in Gorinchem, Nils and Wende love to play on the keyboard.

How to put o a jacket lesson 1 (of1)

Nils showed us how easy it is to put on a jacket

We had a great afternoon at Maaike and Jaap's and Wende and Nils had a great time as well.
Maartje and Guusje took them to play at th school's playground and Guusje looked after them very well.

We also went to see were my dad's granddad lived in Utrecht and even saw the actual house were my father played and read books when he was little. My great grandfather lived and worked in Indonesia (Sourabaya) and my grandfather was born there. Lisette and I had been in the same street a week before and took a bus opposite the house!

Visiting tante Jet

We went to maaike and Jaap and from there went toUtrecht to see our dear old tante Jet. Tante Jet is a friend of the family for as long as I can remember and is now 90 years old. She recently fell and suffered brain damage from an internal bleeding which paralized her at one side. The police had to break down the door to find her lying on the floor. As the ambulance arrived and the nurse examined her she replied to the question "if she would like something to drink" with "a port please".

Now she's recovering in a hospital and it is sad to see such a lively person, always on top of things and much appreciated by old and young, lying there almost not recognizing anyone and sleeping most of the time. Wen we visited her this weekend for the second time, she recognized some of us (my parents and my sister) and we have the impression tht she is slowly recovering a bit.

The bird that couldn't fly

We tried (again) to fly one of Nils's kites but it just doesn't want to fly...
